Nottingham City Homes? contractor partner, Frank Haslam Milan (FHM), part of Keepmoat, has completed its 8,500th home improvement as part of the city?s Secure Warm Modern programme.
Snape Wood estate resident Brenda Barnes recently had a new fitted kitchen installed at her home on Snape Nook Court - making her the 8,500th Nottingham City Homes tenant to benefit from refurbishment work carried out by Keepmoat.
Nottingham City Homes is currently working across the city to bring all its 29,000 properties up to and beyond the Government?s Decent Homes Standard.
The Secure, Warm, Modern programme means council homes across the city are benefitting from new kitchens and bathrooms, electrical re-wiring, new gas central heating systems and boilers, and new windows and doors.
Keepmoat staff this week thanked Brenda, 78, for her part in helping the company reach the milestone of 8,500 properties completed to date by presenting her with a new kettle and toaster for her kitchen.
Brenda said: ?My new kitchen is lovely, I?m really happy with it. It?s a big improvement on what I had before. It was looking old and tired and was really in need of updating. I?ve had a fully fitted kitchen installed and was able to choose the units myself. Keepmoat have also replastered all the walls and put in a new vinyl floor and tiles. It took three weeks to do but it was worth the wait. The workmen did a fantastic job, I can?t fault them.?
National housing and regeneration specialist Keepmoat is currently in its fifth year of working with Nottingham City Homes on its massive city-wide home refurbishment programme. Keepmoat has secured a number of contracts under the programme to deliver new kitchen and bathrooms and electrical re-wiring work. By the end of 2012/13, the company aims to have completed 9,700 home improvements on behalf of Nottingham City Homes.
Neil Baxter, Regional Managing Director for Keepmoat Midlands, said: ?Completing our 8,500th home in Nottingham is a significant milestone for Keepmoat. It means we?re well on the way to delivering our target of nearly 10,000 homes completed for Nottingham City Homes by the end of this year. We?d like to thank all the tenants like Brenda who we?ve worked with ? for their patience and co-operation in helping us to get the job done!?
Nottingham City Homes Director Mark Johnson said: ?As one of our six contractor partners, Keepmoat is playing a significant part in Nottingham City Homes ambitious programme to improve all the city?s council homes between now and 2015. Our housing stock is being transformed by this programme which aims to ensure our homes are fit for the 21st century. We look forward to continuing our work with Keepmoat in the months ahead and congratulate the company on reaching its 8,500th home completed so far.?
